14 Bible Verses for Entrepreneurs

14 Bible Verses for Entrepreneurs

· In: Faith, Work

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

I have been a self-employed, Christian business owner for more than twenty years. Undergirding my philosophy of how I operate my business are principles I’ve extracted from the Bible. I don’t profess that I have it all figured out, but I do know that the more I focus on God and establish my daily quiet time with him, the more prepared I am to serve others well through the work I do as an entrepreneur.

When I lose focus or direction, I look to wisdom from scripture. I pray and ask God for guidance. My overarching goal is to serve the Lord in everything I do. This includes how I serve and glorify him, how I serve my family, and how I serve my clients and audience as an author and writer. May God bless your efforts as you read and absorb his word below.

Here are 14 Bible verses for entrepreneurs who desire to serve God through their work:

#1 – Work at Everything Like the Lord is Your Boss

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.

Colossians 3:23-24 ESV

#2 – Focus on Work That has a Greater Chance of Success

Hard work means prosperity; only a fool idles away his time.

Proverbs 12:11 TLB

#3 – Recognize God’s Impact on All Your Accomplishments

O Lord, you make us secure, for even all we have accomplished, you have done for us.

Isaiah 26:12 NET

#4 – Be an Example to Others Through Your Good Deeds

…in all things show yourself to be an example of good deeds, with purity in doctrine, dignified.

Titus 2:7 NASB

#5 – Show Your Faith Through Your Actions

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

james 1:22 ESV

#6 – Allow the Lord to Equip You to Do His Will

Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

hewbrews 13-20-22 eSV

#7 – Provide for Your Family by Using Your God-Given Gifts

She seeks wool and flax,
    and works with willing hands.
 She is like the ships of the merchant;
she brings her food from afar.
She rises while it is yet night
and provides food for her household
    and portions for her maidens.
 She considers a field and buys it;
with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard.

proverbs 31:13-16 ESV

#8 – Love God With All Your Strength

And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.

mark 12:30 esv

#9 – Steward Your Gifts and Skills Well

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace:

1 peter 4:10 esv

#10 – Commit All Your Work to the Lord

Commit your work to the Lord,
and your plans will be established.

proverbs 16:3 Esv

#11 – Do it All for Jesus

Whatever you do in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.

colossians 3:17 nasb

#12 – Meditate on God’s Mighty Works

I will ponder all your work,
and meditate on your mighty deeds.

psalm 77:12 esv

#13 – The Lord has Good Plans for Your Future

‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’

Jeremiah 29:11 niv

#14 – Both the Good and the Bad Can Work Together for Good for Those who Know Jesus

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

romans 8:28 niv
